Transition Support Worker

New Innovative Role

Kaute Pasifika is a charitable trust that provides free health, social, education, employment and housing services to Pasifika communities and all other ethnicities who wish to access our services.

Purpose of the Role 

The role is to provide a gradual and supported transition for young people from care to help them get a good start in life. The transition support worker will take a youth led approach that empowers the young person to have more say and increase the responsibility for themselves, focusing on   providing  them with skills and knowledge that they can endure through to their adult lives .

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant qualification in social work, youth work, health, teaching or human services 
  • Experience in assessment and care planning
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Experience working with youth or vulnerable people
  • Understanding disability, mental health impact of trauma, substance abuse
  • Cultural competency, Pacifica protocol’s, Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Behavior management/conflict resolutions skills
  • Key relationships with other providers

Essential:

  • Full clean driver’s license 
  • Preferably, speak a Pacific language
  • Computer Literacy
  • Pass a police check

Te Haumirimiri Ngakau Mokopuna Team Leader

Job Description

Team Leader - K'aute Pasifika working within Te Haumirimiri Ngakau Mokopuna

Do you have 4 + years’ experience leading a high performing team?

Kaute Pasifika is a charitable trust that provides free health, social, education, employment and housing services to Pasifika communities and all other ethnicities who wish to access our services.

Primarily to lead and develop a team of Social Workers and/or Whanau Support Workers who will be working within the Te Haumirimiri Ngakau Mokopuna team. This exciting new initiative provides a child centred service that supports whanau with children at risk of children entering care. This service will be delivered from a Pasfika perspective and will provide whanau with knowledge/support and the tools to enable their children to blossom and achieve their full potential

 

Skills and experience:

  • NZ Social worker registration (SWRB) or have a supervision qualification
  • Level 7 Degree in a discipline relevant to working with children and families and be registered with a relevant qualification
  • Experience and knowledge of domestic violence, mental health, and addiction abuse
  • Experience and knowledge and an understanding of Pacific models of care, customs and cultures
  • Sound knowledge of child health, development and education
  • Well-developed networks
  • Management experience
  • Ability to work outside normal working hours if required

 

Essential:

  • Current, full NZ drivers’ license
  • Preference for ability to speak a Pacific language
  • Pass a Police check
  • Computer literacy
  • 4-5 social work experience

Social Services Team Leader

Job description

Social Services Team Leader 

Hamilton based

Kaute Pasifika Trust is a service that provides extensive Health, Education, Employment, Housing and Social Services for the Hamilton region. Our purpose is to improve the holistic wellbeing of people, families and communities by providing wrap around care using the pacific health model.

Role

To lead, develop and coordinate all contracts associated with the Social services unit. Support and develop staff to enable them to work accordance with organisational and contractual priorities, policies and procedures.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, lead, motivate and develop staff
  • Commitment and dedication to professionalism
  • Relate to diversity of Waikato region population
  • A good listener, patient and diplomatic
  • Well-developed problem solving, conflict resolution and decision making skills
  • Culturally sensitive
  • Organised, motivated and adaptable
  • Outcome focused
  • Knowledge of safety issues including client safety and worker safety
  • Knowledge of domestic violence, mental health and alcohol and drug abuse
  • Well-developed networks
  • Qualified in your field  of work 

This role would suit an experienced certified social service worker, health or educational professional who is multi skilled, dynamic and has a passion about working with families and communities, or has suitable experience in this field.

It is desirable that the applicant is fluent in a Pacific language but not essential and must possess a clean NZ Full Drivers License.
