With the support of K’aute Pasifika’s Employment Team, TK’s journey to securing a fulfilling full-time role at Waikato Tractors is truly inspiring.
In collaboration with Māori and Pasifika Trades Training and WINTEC, the K'aute Pasifika team worked closely with TK to identify his needs, enabling him to complete his studies while supporting his family. By alleviating financial stress during his education, we created the space for TK to focus, excel, and achieve his goals. Alongside this, our team provided him with the confidence, skills, and tools required to transition successfully into the workforce.
The outcome? TK is now thriving as an Automotive Diesel Apprentice at Waikato Tractors, a role that offers growth and success. Under the Māori Pasifika Trades Training fund, administered through TEC, WINTEC equipped TK with work boots, overalls, and pastoral support. Regular Mana Sessions further enriched his journey, covering essential topics like Whakawhanaungatanga, Manaakitanga, Taurite, and Aromatawai, alongside personalised one-on-one sessions.

Upon successfully completing his programme TK was presented a basic tool kit to set him on the path to becoming a qualified Diesel Mechanic. Both WINTEC and K’aute Pasifika continue to provide ongoing pastoral support and regular visits to TK and his mentor, Gary Good, Product & Service Manager at Waikato Tractors.
