Gasologa Rosaline Fasimaau, wife and mother of four migrated to New Zealand from Samoa four years ago.

Settling in Hamilton with their young family, Gasologa’s looked after her children while her husband worked shift work. Raising four children is not easy and the challenges Gasologa faced was finding a job that would fit within school hours. She also had limited work experience and no qualifications.

Determined to find a job and help support her family, Gasologa found out about our employment service through an ad on our social media and contacted Steven Naidu, our Employment & Education team leader.

“Gasologa had a lot of transferrable skills that we knew would apply to a work environment. It was about making sure we found the right employer that could see her potential, and give her an opportunity,” said Steven.

Steven enrolled Gasologa into the Tupu Aotearoa programme that aims to connect Pacific people to access work or learning opportunities. Steven and the team helped Gasologa build her confidence, prepare for interviews and connect with the right employers.

Within two months Gasologa got a job at DEC Manufacturing in Te Rapa working 6am-1pm hours that suited her family. She has been working for six months and her employer has said that she has great leadership potential.

“It’s such a nice feeling to be working and being able to support my family. The K’aute Pasifika team have helped us to overcome difficult challenges and I’m really grateful".
